Doin’ a Little Roadwork!

On the way into the office yesterday, driving West on Cornell Rd. to avoid the still-to-be-rebuilt bridge, I happened across several happy guys liberally applying hot patch bandages to our ailing road!  In addition to thanking them for the attention to our asphalt and complementing them on their workmanship, I took a minute to catch their pictures and promised to make them famous in our newsletter!  Here they are:

These fine technicians are part of JCDOT’s effort to repair (as best they can) as many of the roads as possible, as quickly as they can utilizing a public-private partnership to get the best bang for their buck.  It is being administered by Jim Cole under Chris Bolt’s direction.  They are using a hot mix for the repairs which does a better job, lasts much longer and is easier to apply.  While it’s a long, long ways from a new road, it’s the best we’re going to get until we find some money somewhere.

There are many crews working their way through the Townships with the goal of getting these potholes filled and our roads repaired, and – if I do say so myself – they are doing a damn fine job of it!  For these guys – Gentlemen, here is your 15 seconds of fame!  Enjoy it while it lasts!
